Are you a permanent resident or Canadian citizen and want to bring your parents or grandparents to Canada? This could be your chance!

The Government of Canada has confirmed that the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) will reopen starting on July 28, 2025. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will issue invitations to apply to up to 10,000 people who had already expressed interest in family sponsorship since 2020.

Who can receive an invitation?

  • This process is limited to those who submitted the interest form in 2020 and have not yet been selected.
  • If you or a family member completed that form, carefully check your inbox as well as your spam and junk mail folders. Invitations will be sent for two weeks starting July 28.

How is the application done?

Those who receive an invitation will be able to submit their application electronically through the Permanent Residence Portal or the Representative Portal.

What if I don’t receive an invitation this year?

If you are not invited in this cycle, there is still an excellent alternative: the Super Visa. This multiple-entry visa allows parents or grandparents to visit Canada for up to 5 consecutive years, with the possibility of extending their stay without leaving the country.
